Post 88 – After the Assault: Finding Refuge in Mississippi
Following the violent “potato” assault in July 2015, I left Texas and went to Mississippi to seek safety.
It was a time of recovery and refuge for me and Esther, who celebrated her second birthday there.
Seeking Safety
- Physical Separation: Removing myself and Esther from a dangerous environment
- Emotional Healing: Beginning to process trauma away from immediate threats
- Support Systems: Finding allies and safe spaces for recovery
Strength in Survival
Leaving was a difficult but necessary step towards reclaiming our lives and safety.
Every step away from abuse is a victory.
