Post 97 – Public Humiliation: False Accusations at Family Gathering
Shortly after moving to Texas, I was publicly accused of hiding money during a family gathering.
Jeff’s mother presented a Wells Fargo ATM receipt and claimed it was mine, despite me not banking there or recognizing the receipt.
Jeff silently supported his mother’s claim through his body language, intensifying the public humiliation.
Later, Jeff’s father clarified that the money and receipt belonged to him, but no apology was offered.
Tactics Breakdown – Family Triangulation and Public Shaming
- False Accusations: Using unfounded claims to damage reputation
- Silent Endorsement: Nonverbal support to perpetuate the accusation
- Public Degradation: Shaming in front of family and friends
- Lack of Accountability: No apology or retraction despite truth
Standing Strong Against Shame
Public humiliation is a tactic to isolate and control. Holding onto your truth is vital.
Seek support from those who validate and respect your experience.
